Breakfast can be tough.  Do you do a smoothie, nothing if you are doing the fast thing and abstain until your lunch?  Or maybe just Joe on the go.  For me, most on the go mornings, it’s a smoothie.  It’s easy, I don’t have to think about what I want, I just do it, one for the Hubby and one for moi on our way out the door to work or workout.  Now, on a lazy morning, maybe something more, but the day to day, it’s a smoothie.  Last week, I saw something interesting on Dominique Ludwig’s Instagram that caught my eye, I gave it a try (that rhymes!) and for 3 mornings in the last week, I have tried something new to add in the mix with the smoothie, for me, not thinking the Hubby will go for this, but I think it’s a good one for kids too and they can get involved here.  How about a Jam Jar Breakfast?  Dominique is a well known British Nutritionist.  Her short Instagram videos are extremely informative and common sense.  She quickly gets to the nitty gritty of eating well.  She herself is the picture of health, and she always wears colorful tops and sweaters-I think many Boden pieces.

The day this recipe caught my eye, she was on her way out the door to catch the train. She had assembled her breakfast in a cleaned out jam jar, she had saved the lid-you could always do this in a Rubbermaid or Tupperware container if you are worried about glass breakage.  I save jam jars for salad dressings and flower vases so this quickly caught my attention.  When I saw what Dominique had put in the jam jar for her breakfast on the go, I started getting the same items out of our fridge and within a few minutes, I had prepared my Jam Jar Breakfast on the go.  This is something your kids could do and when kids are part of the process, the seem to become more interested.  The recipe is below.  I think you’ll like it and you’ll get creative and make your own version with the ingredients you have on hand or are at the top of your list of FAVS.  This could also be a nice afternoon pick-me up healthy and nutritious snack.  Once again, something simple, something good.  Thanks Dominique!  It’s a Great Day  🫙

Just add ingredients, cover and shake…That’s all folks!

     Ingredients

-A jam jar or other container with a lid

-3/4 cup Greek Yogurt

-Chia or Flax seeds (1-2 Tablespoons)

Method

1.  Place all ingredients in your jam jar.  Cover. Shake.  Enjoy.  If you      are taking this on the go, remember your spoon and napkin/paper      towel.
